Nancy Sherman
PARISH ADMINISTRATOR
As a farmer’s daughter, Nancy had the privilege of learning a life-long lesson: to respect and care for all of God’s creatures, as well as fellow human beings. No matter how foul the weather might be or how much she wanted to be somewhere else, caring for the animals was first and foremost. She enjoyed being part of 4-H, Girl Scouts, and Dairylea Young cooperator’s activities and reveled in her life on the land.
She was also the first of her family to attend and graduate from college. At SUNY Plattsburgh she earned a degree in Business Management which prepared her well for the wide variety of occupations she was to have as an adult. She was a veterinary assistant, a caretaker, a farm hand, a sales person and even a hostess at a restaurant. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Town of Westport, a notary public, a legal assistant and a library assistant, director and bookkeeper.
By sheer coincidence she wound up at St. John’s and she truly believe that God brought her there. At first, she was the bookkeeper and before long she found herself being exposed to more and more challenges, as well as opportunities to stretch her wings and learn new things. Now, as the Parish Administrator the scope of her responsibilities have broadened and her horizon has expanded. She enjoys the variety of her daily life at the church – greeting visitors, putting together the Sunday bulletins, upgrading and enhancing their bookkeeping procedures with their treasurer and CPA, ordering supplies, providing support wherever it is needed - in general being there wherever and whenever she’s needed. -

Michael Bergman
CANTOR
Michael Bergman has spent most of his life immersed in church liturgy and hymns. From early childhood in the Catholic Church, the beautiful melodies of the hymns inspired a love of music and singing that has only grown with time. In addition to experiences singing classical and sacred music, Michael has performed in many community theater productions, playing prominent roles in diverse shows such as “Rent” and “The Sound of Music,” and a full range between. He is an amateur artist, an Agatha Christie enthusiast, and above all a passionate vocalist. When not practicing hymns for the weekly St. John’s service, he is usually rehearsing new covers for his local band, the Elements.
